This print expresses the artist's opposition to the non labeling of genetically engineered food. Wheat was chosen since it has been genetically modified for over 5000 years using traditional methods of cross fertilization. However, modern gene engineering techniques are currently being researched in order to obtain a variety of wheat that is resistant to pests and diseases. In order for this to be achieved its genome is currently being catalogued. A number of motifs in this print indicates that it is human intervention (not Nature's) that now controls the evolution of some plants.
Note: Water mark is on the image and not on the print.
